Four waves carried us outward

Pre-1960

Trade & Labour

Igbo traders and labourers move across West Africa and into early colonial Britain, the first threads of a footprint to come.

1967–70

The Scattering

Displacement in the aftermath of the civil war pushes families outward, sowing communities far from Igboland.

1980s–90s

The Brain Drain

Doctors, engineers and academics leave for the UK, the US and the Gulf, building professional diaspora networks.

2000s–Now

The Diaspora Generation

Children born abroad; town unions organise online; the footprint becomes a global, self-documenting nation.
